The Android Stick is an entry level digital signage player for low cost implementations that require basic content. It supports 720p images and video clips from 360p-460p.This player is ideal for use with static food menus that don't require a lot of content and can also be used for advertising purposes where the number of ads is less than 20.This model is good for small projects that are limited on budget. Built in wifi makes it convenient to connect to an existing wireless access point so no additional network cabling will be required. The Android Stick has a very small form factor that is smaller than most smart phones. It has an HDMI plug that goes directly to the HDMI port of a regular TV screen so it does not require any mounting equipment. There is one micro USB port for power and this can be plugged in to a wall outlet with the supplied AC adapter, or it can be plugged in directly to a TV screen with USB ports. If the TV USB is used for power, the mediadroid will power on and off with the TV. This means that the TV can be scheduled to turn on and off at certain times along with the player for power savings. There are two versions of the player. One is in landscape orientation and the other is in portrait. Both versions support 720p screens and the portrait version will be ideal for increasingly popular vertical screen layouts.
The Android Stick has a 1.6GHz Dual Core Cortex-A9 processor with quad core GPU. It also has 1GB of DDR3 RAM. This combination of CPU and memory provides adequate power in such a small package. There is also a standard sized USB port which allows a standard mouse to be connected for controlling the device. There is an onscreen keyboard for text input. A watchdog application is installed on the device and this will allow remote control of the signage presentation remotely from the Studio software.
