Use Your Own Hardware

Currently, we support any hardware which can run Flash Player 10 or greater. This means you can operate your signage display with Windows, Apple or Linux operating systems. This completely cross platform approach allows you to choose the type of hardware which best supports your business and its particular needs. While we provide hardware for digital signage deployments worldwide, we strongly recommend using your own hardware along with the software. This hardware could include the display, media player or a combination of the two.

For the Digital Display

We always recommend a commercial LCD over its consumer counterpart, however, any display which allows for a television input via VGA, DVI or HDMI will do. This could include televisions and displays from all major manufacturers. However, we do recommend some testing prior to a full rollout.

For the Sign Player

We highly recommend some of the hardware we create, however the software is not limited to that alone. In fact, Apple's Mac Mini is one of the better hardware/OS bundles for use as a digital signage media player on the market today. The SignageStudio works best with an Intel Pentium Dual Core 2.5GHz or faster Intel based processor with 1GB RAM. This is true whether you intend on using Windows, Apple or Ubuntu as your operating system. While lower-grade hardware will work, it will be shoddy if you attempt to perform in high graphics situations where greater RAM is needed. To take full advantage of the software we recommend not going below the aforementioned specifications. Large monitors running high resolution screens (i.e: 1920×1080) will also require better hardware; for improved rendering and high frame-per-second (FPS) refresh rate. For best performance we recommend Intel Pentium 2.8GHz Quad Core2 with 2GB of RAM. The SignagePlayer can run on low-end devices with as little as an 800MHz processor with Win XPe SP3 (embedded XP). Of course, you will be limited to simpler videos (no HD) and simpler swf animation due to the lack of processing power. Note: The SignagePlayer for the Mac OS is supported only on the Intel base player, not PowerPC.

For the Signage Server

Your digital signage server can be hosted from within your own private network on hardware you may have already purchased. This means you have full control over your own data, giving you the ability to manage thousands of screens locally or over the web. When you order a sign server software for $895, you will receive an auto install key with the complete software package ready to upload to any Microsoft Windows 2008 Server 64 bit version. Here are the specific hardware requirements for your digital signage server.
  • Requires a computer / server running Microsoft Windows 2008 Server 64 bit version
  • Requires a Microsoft IIS 7.5 (part of Microsoft 2008 Server)
  • Includes PostgreSQL Database Engine included
  • Includes Microsoft C# backend
  • Includes Auto Update Manager
