Artificial Intelligence for Digital Signage

Here's another interactive application for digital signage: AI (artificial intelligence) Currently, there are numerous interactive applications for digital signage. Some include multi-touch screens as well as interactive wall and floor displays. However, applications which are currently lacking are interactive displays integrating artificial intelligence. Such AI could be implemented in a standard digital signage display, holograph display, and holograph display, or circular signage display. Interestingly, such an application not only would create interaction with individuals, but also would be able to glean important audience information from the persons interacting, thus increasing digital signage metrics.

Consider and example. As you pass a digital signage display, the face on the display, controlled by a motion sensor, follows you and asks, "where are you going?" You stop, mostly out of curiosity, and respond by saying, "to the mall." The display responds by saying, "Interesting. What are you going to the mall for today?" "I'm going to purchase a birthday gift for my wife." etc. etc. As this conversation continues, the digital display is gleaning audience demographic information which will not only help to judge who is watching, but also may be used to direct them to specific stores which may be of interest.

A digital signage interactive intelligence help-desk could be a great aid in helping customers. Although nothing will replace human interaction, some persons may find it not only intriguing to interact with a digital help-desk than with an actual human. An AI helper could also be programmed with humorous responses to keep audiences engaged and give people a reason to keep interacting with the digital signage. In any instance, audiences will most likely be taken aback by a digital sign with a person's face displayed, which speaks, responds, and follows you as you move. Engaging? Yes. As digital signage technology continues to move forward, I see interactive artificial intelligence as a new and engaging way for signage to be utilized, especially as standard digital signage loses its effectiveness--just like television today.

Artificial intelligence technology may not be advanced enough yet for something like this to be implemented, but when it does, I see multiple applications for such a device which may be implemented.
