Turn any Windows 10 or Windows 11 PC into a digital signage player. The free SignPlayer desktop app installs in minutes, keeps playing from its local cache when the internet drops, and one PC can drive as many screens as it has video outputs. Design and schedule everything in SignStudio from any browser.
DigitalSignage.com is a hosted cloud platform, running since 2006: you build campaigns in the SignStudio web editor, and a SignPlayer shows them on the screen. On Windows you have a native desktop player, a browser player, or a dedicated mini PC behind the display. All three are managed from the same account, alongside Android TV, Chrome OS, Raspberry Pi, iPad and Linux screens.
The native Windows application. Installs on any Windows 10 or 11 PC, starts with Windows, plays from its local cache during internet outages, and supports as many screens as the PC has video outputs. The right choice for permanent installations.
Open the SignPlayer web player in Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome and run the browser in kiosk mode. The fastest way to test on a PC you already own; you handle auto-login and restarting the browser yourself.
For heavy HTML5 layouts, many zones, touch screens, 4K or multi-display output, mount a Windows mini PC behind the screen on a VESA bracket. N100-class boxes up to Intel NUC-class machines cost roughly $110 to $800.
Most office PCs made in the last eight years qualify. The recommended build matters when you play 4K video, run many zones or drive several screens from one machine.
Windows IoT Enterprise LTSC is the best fit for a screen that must run unattended: a long support life, security fixes without feature updates, and lockdown tools such as Shell Launcher and the Unified Write Filter. Windows 11 Pro also works well once you set the update policy and active hours so the player never restarts or shows an update screen during business hours. The Windows digital signage guide in our docs covers editions, hardware and kiosk lockdown in detail.
These are standard Windows features, not a DigitalSignage.com installer. Use the one that matches your edition:
Whichever you choose, every screen is managed remotely from one SignStudio account with the same scheduling, playlists, multi-zone layouts and live data widgets as every other platform.
Sign up free for SignStudio. No credit card required.
Build a campaign from a template in the SignStudio web editor.
Download SignPlayer for Windows from the Downloads page, install it, and sign in to pair the screen.
Set auto-login and auto-start, connect the screen, and manage it remotely from SignStudio.
SignPlayer Desktop also has a Mac version, so a Mac mini behind a display works as a signage player and handles heavy layouts and 4K content comfortably. An older Mac or PC that no longer receives operating system updates can be turned into a managed player with Google's free ChromeOS Flex, which DigitalSignage.com supports through the Chrome OS player; kiosk mode on ChromeOS needs a Chrome Enterprise Kiosk license per device.

Is there a DigitalSignage.com player for Windows?
Yes. SignPlayer Desktop is a standalone application for Windows 10 and Windows 11 (64-bit). Download it from the Downloads page in your free SignStudio account, install it on the PC behind the screen, sign in once to pair the screen, and manage it remotely from then on. It keeps playing from its local cache when the internet connection drops.
Can I use an old Windows PC as a digital signage player?
Yes, if it meets the minimums: Windows 10 64-bit, a Core i3 or Ryzen 3 class processor, 4 GB of RAM and a 64 GB SSD. For many zones, 4K video or several screens from one PC, use Windows 11 with a Core i5 or Ryzen 5, 8 GB of RAM and a 128 GB or larger SSD. Laptops work for a pilot but the lid, battery and built-in screen make them a poor permanent fixture. Turn off sleep, set the player to start automatically and use Ethernet where you can.
Which version of Windows is best for digital signage?
Windows IoT Enterprise LTSC is the best fit: it has a long support life, receives security fixes without feature updates, and includes lockdown tools such as Shell Launcher and the Unified Write Filter. Windows 11 Pro also works if you configure the update policy and active hours so the player never restarts or shows an update screen during business hours.
Can one Windows PC drive several screens?
Yes. A single SignPlayer Desktop supports as many screens as the PC has video outputs, so a small PC with two or three HDMI or DisplayPort outputs can run a video wall or a row of menu boards from one installation.
Is digital signage on Windows free with DigitalSignage.com?
Yes, for the first 3 screens. Every account gets its first 3 screens free forever with no credit card, no ads and no watermark, plus 1 GB of cloud storage. Additional screens on Plus+ start from $3 per screen per month with volume pricing in the public calculator, and a one-time $895 mediaSERVER license is available for on-premise installations.
Does the Windows player keep working without internet?
Yes. SignPlayer Desktop downloads your campaign to the PC and plays it from the local cache, so an internet outage does not interrupt playback. The connection is needed for setup, for receiving new content and schedules, and for remote monitoring.
