How Much Does Digital Signage Cost in 2026? Screen, Player, Software and Installation
Only the software repeats. A screen costs $0 to $300 upfront if you own the TV and add a player. A new indoor screen with player, mount and installation is $390 to $2,250, and an outdoor screen $8,000 to $25,000. Software is $0 to $30 per screen per month. DigitalSignage.com is free for the first 3 screens and then $3. At 10 screens that is $252 in year one, against $960 on Yodeck and $2,400 on ScreenCloud. Electricity adds about $75 a year per screen.
What you are actually buying
Five line items, in the order you pay for them.
- Display. A consumer TV or a commercial panel, usually the largest cost.
- Player. A stick, box, mini PC or Raspberry Pi, unless the TV runs the app itself.
- Software. A subscription, a free tier, or a one-time on-premise license.
- Mounting and installation. A bracket, plus labor for the screen, power and data.
- Power and content labor. Electricity, and time to keep content current.
The short answer by scenario
| Scenario | Upfront | Per year |
|---|---|---|
| TV you already own | Player $0 to $300 | Software $0 to $240, power $75 |

| A 10-screen network | Players $400 to $3,000 on reused TVs; new panels add $3,000 to $14,500 | Software $252 to $2,400, power $750 |
| A 50-screen network | Players $2,000 to $15,000; a university budgets $1,800 to $3,400 per new screen and mount | Software $1,692 to $12,000, power $3,750 |
| One outdoor or drive-thru screen | $8,000 to $25,000 all in; a turnkey two-board drive-thru is $18,000 to $30,000 | Same rate; power higher, no verified figure |
Displays
| Size | Consumer 4K TV | Commercial panel |
|---|---|---|
| 43 inch | $200 to $300 | Samsung QM43C $627 to $780, list $830 |
| 55 inch | $300 to $450, mini-LED to about $800 | Samsung QM55C $995 to $1,450, list $1,260 |
| 65 inch | $480 to $650 | Samsung QM65C about $1,450 at CDW |
| 75 inch | $650 to $900 | No verified street price |
Street-price ranges as of September 2026. Commercial panels sell in duty tiers: 16/7 panels run roughly 350 to 500 nits, 24/7 panels roughly 500 to 700 nits, both with 3-year warranties. The LG 55UL3J-E is 400 nits and 16/7, sold quote-only with no public price. Budget roughly 1.5x to 3x a consumer set.
The honest warning: Samsung publishes that a consumer TV warranty is invalidated by commercial use. It also says consumer sets are built for about 8 hours a day and may suffer burn-in beyond that. Consumer panels run 250 to 400 nits against up to 2,500 for commercial, and lack venting for portrait rotation.
Media players
| Player | Price | Rated for continuous operation |
|---|---|---|
| Walmart onn 4K stick | $39.88 | No |
| Raspberry Pi 5 board | $45 to $95 | No |
| ScreenCloud Pixi | $65 | Not published |
| Amazon Signage Stick | $99.99 | Yes |
| Google TV Streamer | $99.99 | No |
| Mini PC, N100 to NUC class | $110 to $800 | Check the spec sheet |
| mediaDROID-100 | $295 list | Yes |
| BrightSign LS5 | about $300 | Yes |
The Amazon Signage Stick is purpose-built for signage, not a rebadged Fire TV: quad-core, 2 GB of RAM, 4K, Wi-Fi 6E, kiosk mode, continuous commercial operation. Its CMS partner list covers Yodeck, Xibo, Rise Vision and ScreenCloud, but not DigitalSignage.com. A complete Raspberry Pi build with case, power supply, card and cable is $81 to $137. Board prices have been volatile since the December 2025 memory-driven rise.
From experience rather than measurement: consumer sticks thermally throttle and need manual reboots, and the usual Raspberry Pi failure is microSD corruption, fixed by a high-endurance card or USB boot.
Software
Software is the only line that bills again next year. The software comparison covers 11 vendors; the cost per screen guide goes per screen.
| Platform | Year one, 10 screens | Year one, 50 screens |
|---|---|---|
| DigitalSignage.com | $252 | $1,692 |
| Yodeck | $960 | $4,800 |
| OptiSigns | $1,200 | $6,000 |
| Rise Vision | $1,320 | $6,600 |
| NoviSign | $2,160 | $10,800 |
| ScreenCloud | $2,400 | $12,000 |
DigitalSignage.com's first 3 screens are free forever: no credit card, no ads, no watermark, 1 GB of storage, about 90 percent of the features. Paid screens are $3 a month, $3,492 in year one at 100 screens, or a one-time $895 mediaSERVER.
Mounting and installation
The bracket is cheap and the labor is not. Fixed mounts are $20 to $60, tilting $40 to $120, full-motion $80 to $300, and a do-it-yourself install $50 to $200 per screen.
An installer hanging a screen near an existing outlet charges $200 to $500, typically $250 to $350 and $250 to $750 in volume. Certified low-voltage labor is $75 to $150 an hour, so a mount plus a power and data run lands at $200 to $800. Ceiling rigs, video walls and exterior work start at $1,000 to $1,500 per screen. One integrator quotes all-in packages, with display, mount, player, install and first-year software, at $3,450, $3,850 and $4,450 for 43, 55 and 65 inches.
What it costs to keep running
Assume 120 W for a 55-inch commercial LCD. That is an assumption, not a measurement: the typical band is 100 to 150 W and your spec sheet is the real number. The US average commercial rate is 14.19 cents per kWh (EIA Electric Power Monthly, data month June 2026). The arithmetic is 0.120 kW x 12 hours x 365 days = 525.6 kWh a year. That is about $75 a year, or $6.20 a month per screen.
Content labor has no rigorous published benchmark. Vendor estimates put a small deployment at 5 to 15 hours a month, or $200 to $600 a month to outsource.
Where the money actually goes
At small scale the hardware dominates: one new indoor screen is $390 to $2,250 upfront against at most $240 a year in software. Software is the only line that repeats forever, so over 3 to 5 years the meter decides the total. Fifty screens cost $5,076 in software over 3 years on DigitalSignage.com and $36,000 on ScreenCloud.
Price the software line at zero first. DigitalSignage.com gives 3 screens free forever, no credit card, no ads, no watermark, so you can test on a TV you already own first.
